The mixer and receiving tank were secured in place, with a basic sieving device incorporated into the gravity transfer system.

The mixer blade or 'gate' for the slow revolving receiving tank was constructed from scrap metal, and a shaft machined and then welded onto the gate, which in turn fitted into the gear box of the drive unit.
