The clay tiles from the dryers were tested for humidity prior to entering the firing cycle, as only a maximum value of 3% is acceptable. Higher values will result in cracking, splitting, and a reduction effect in the centre of the tile. The dryer systems were adjusted to give the required results.

Having tested all the materials and the drying and firing procedures, the milled ceramic raw material mix was introduced into the production tile extruder units (above).
